WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF SCOLIOSIS SPECIFIC PILATES?

Scolioisis does not need to stop you from living a full and active life or from doing hobbies or activities that you love!

Scoliosis specific Pilates care using the evidence based principles of the Scolio-Pilates Method ® helps to elongate and decompress your spinal curves before strengthening within the new alignment.

You’ll feel and look taller, less rotated and closer to centre. The experience of moving in your body will feel smoother, less stiff and with less pain and discomfort.

Every person with Scoliosis has a unique spine with unique needs. The exercises and positions that we will place your spine into will not only feel incredibly relieving, they will help you to be completely aware of and in control of your own body needs so that you can apply these principles outside of the Pilates studio.

No matter your age or whether you have already received Scoliosis treatment such as bracing or spinal fusion, Scoliosis specific Pilates care can and will change your life!

HOW TO START SCOLIOSIS PILATES

HOW TO START SCOLIOSIS SPECIFIC PILATES

Your Scoliosis specific Studio Pilates appointments will use a variety of Pilates equipment including the Reformer, Cadillac, Pilates Chair, Barrels, Matwork, Fitball as well as and Scolio-Pilates props and wedges to tailor your exercise program to your needs.

You instructor will start with a thorough assessment process where we will review your spinal curves and any supporting x-rays and reports you have to create a strategic plan for your optimal spinal care. From there you will move through individually tailored Pilates programs under the full guidance and supervision of your instructor in either a private or small group setting.

The best way to get started is with our Scoliosis Pilates Introductory Pass. You’ll begin with an Advanced Assessment Initial Consultation (allow 90 minutes) and complete a further two private appointments (60 minutes) with your Scoliosis Pilates instructor. The cost of this pass is $284.

Check out our FAQs below to answer any questions you may have about caring for your Scoliosis with us.

  • Yes we do. Scoliosis is commonly diagnosed in teenage years. It is ideal to start Scoliosis specific Pilates as soon as possible post diagnosis and our team work with children and people of all ages with Scoliosis. When working with younger children we will adapt the sessions accordingly to help younger minds enjoy and stay engaged with their care.

  • Your first session is an Advanced Assessment Private Studio appointment, which offers a 1-on-1 initial consultation with your instructor.

In your initial consultation, your instructor will discuss your goals, your body and what you are hoping to achieve from Pilates. This first session will introduce you to the foundations of the Pilates method and how this is applied in your body.

As well as doing a thorough Scoliosis movement assessment, you’ll also work through a 60 minute Scoliosius Pilates workout fully tailored to your unique needs.

  • Once you’ve purchased your Scoliosis Pilates Studio Introductory Pass our team will reach out to you to arrange your appointment times.

Studio sessions are an appointment based service and a limited number of appointment options are made available to book online. If you are unable to find an appointment time that suits, please call us and we will work with you to find a time that works for you.

  • Bring any relevant EOS spinal x-rays as well as the accompanying reports with you as these will be reviewed in detail as part of your care plan.

  • Comfort is key.

We recommend breathable but form-fitting materials: pants, shorts or leggings; and a t-shirt or singlet top. We prefer “form-fitting” clothing because it allows your instructor to see your body as you move and helps them to provide feedback to you during your session.

As you work on a variety of apparatus, grip socks are essential and we have lots of funky styles available for purchase in the Studio.

  • PFI’s booking and cancellation policies are in place to allow everyone fair access to the timeslots they wish to attend and can be found under “Our Policies” at the bottom of the page.

Studio appointments have a 24-hour cancellation window: this is to provide ample time for our team to offer your spot to another client and remedy any scheduling imbalances.

Early cancellations will be credited back to your account and no fees or charges will be applied.

Studio memberships can be “paused” for clients who are going away; injured or unwell and unable to do Pilates. Learn more about our suspension policy under “Our Policies”.

  • In the event your scheduled instructor has an emergency, such as an illness, PFI will coordinate another Studio instructor to take your session so that you can keep your scheduled booking.

With such a large team of amazing qualified Studio instructors, we are in almost all instances able to provide another instructor at your regular time even at short notice. However, in the unlikely event we are unable to continue with your session at your regular time, we will provide as much notice as possible of your booking cancellation, credit your session back to your account and work with you to reschedule your appointment as soon as possible.

Our instructors maintain your progress in our systems, including your programs and updated notes on your sessions, which allows another instructor to pick right up and continue from your regular instructor’s notes, maintaining your progress in their absence.

If your instructor is taking leave, he or she will coordinate with our team to ensure another instructor is available to take any booked sessions for the duration of their leave. The instructors will work together on a detailed handover to ensure your progress is continued during your instructor’s absence. We will discuss with you to ensure you have as much notice as possible of any changes to your regular appointments.

  • PFI’s studio is located on the corner of Leach Highway and Norma Road in Myaree.
